Synergetic oxidation of nitrobenzene in ground water and its kinetics

2011
Based on the experiment of KMnO 4 /O 3 to oxidize nitrobenzene (NB) with low concentration in ground water, this test analyzed the reaction kinetic rules of NB degradation and showed that the compound potassium permanganate/ozone(KMnO 4 /O 3 ) have strong synergetic oxidation effect. KMnO 4 can induce O 3 to decompose and produce a large amount of active groups of hydroxyl radical (·OH), improving the degradation efficiency of NB of compound KMnO 4 /O 3 greatly compared with separate O 3 and KMnO 4 . Under the three different technique conditions, all accorded with the apparent first-order kinetic reaction and the rate constant enhancement factor of NB degradation reached 1.48. At reacting time of 12 minutes, when adding 1.0mg/L O 3 and 0.8mg/L KMnO 4 , the removal rate of compound KMnO 4 /O 3 oxidation depredating NB in ground water reached above 95.3%.
