Various correlative techniques for determining key gas properties, such as gross calorific value, Wobbe number, methane number, density, CO 2 content, are currently being developed. On the one hand, they are highly accurate techniques that compete with calorimeters and process gas chromatographs. On the other, some developments pursue the goal of measuring gas properties with only moderate accuracy, though at a very favourable price. Such systems are primarily suitable for controlling sensitive combustion processes, in certain cases they can also be used for energy billing. The present article presents results from laboratory and field tests.
