Detection of multiple simultaneous frequencies

2008
Use of multiple frequencies and phases of stimulation to generate an image of a touch on a touch sensor panel (124, 200, 524). Each of a plurality of detection channels (108, 300) may be coupled to a column in a touch sensor panel (124, 200, 524) and can have multiple mixers (304). Each mixer (304) in the detection channel (108, 300) can utilize a circuit capable of generating a demodulation frequency of a particular frequency. At each of multiple steps, various phases of selected frequencies can be used to simultaneously stimulate the rows of the sensor touch panel (124, 200, 524), and the multiple mixers (304) in each detection channel (108, 300) can be configured to demodulate the signal received from the column connected to each sense channel (108, 300) using the selected frequencies. Once all steps has been completed, the demodulated signals from the multiple mixers (304) can be used in calculations to determine an image of touch for the touch sensor panel (124, 200, 524 ) at each frequency.
