Projeto de educação em saúde em Goiás - HIV/AIDS

2016
The amount of individuals who are infected with HIV/AIDS infection is still very high in Brazil, because many people have unprotected sex. This university community activity aimed to mobilize and pass on important information about HIV infection to health professionals, educators and students from Ipora and region, so they learn new concepts about the disease and then pass on the information absorbed with this project for the community. Information was given to health professionals, academics, educators and students for lectures and discussion groups. In these events were passed information about prevention, the correct use of condoms, antiretroviral therapy, symptoms, pathogenesis, historical, transmission, testimonials, statistics and epidemiology of the disease. Those information are very scarce in Ipora and nearby towns. The project also provided the distribution of condoms to students from public and private schools, and gownsman from UEG – Unit of Ipora. Thus, large section of people had access to condoms without constraints and they will have sex safely. Finally, the HIV/AIDS project allowed significant exchange of information between academics, students, educators and health professionals about AIDS and HIV.
