The magnetic susceptibility of liquid alkali-thallium alloys
1990
Abstract The magnetic susceptibility χ M of liquid K-TL and CsTl alloys was measured by the Faraday method. The large negative deviations of χ M from the linear law were found for both systems. The temperature derivatives of χ M , d χ M /dT, shows maximum values at about 50 at.%K (or Cs). This indicates the chemical short range order effect in the liquid structure, which may be induced by the transfer of electron from K (or Cs) atom to Tl atom. The negative deviation of χ M from the linear law may be explained by the decrease of mobile electrons.
