Characteristic of Tobacco Chlorine Content in Main Tobacco Cultivation Areas in China

The results from studying the characteristic of the chlorine content in tobacco selected from 1279 samples in main tobacco cultivation areas of our country during 2003～2004 show that the chlorine content is lower,its chlorine content from different tobacco cultivation areas is lower than that of quality tobacco from abroad and the sample with the chlorine content of quality tobacco is about 20% in total investigated sample.The paper reviews the chlorine function and relationship between chlorine and tobacco quality and puts forward some suggestion for improving chlorine nutrition level and applying chlorine fertilizer rationally.
