THE ENGLISH STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS TOWARDTHE PSYCHOLOGICAL ATMOSPHEREIN TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESSES

This descriptive research was aimed to investigate the perception of the sixth semester English students of Universitas Bengkulu toward the psychological atmosphere in teaching and learning processes. The population of this research was the sixth semester English students of Universitas Bengkulu, which were 40 respondents. This research used questionnaire as its instrument. The result of this research showed that (1) the students had moderate perception toward the interaction in teaching and learning processes, with the combined mean of 2.68, (2) the students had moderate perception toward the reinforcement in teaching and learning processes, with the combined mean of 2.33, (3) the students had also moderate perception toward reducing anxiety activity that was created by their lecturers, with the combined mean of 2.79, (4) the students had also moderate perception toward sharing knowledge activity , with the combined mean of 2.80, (5) the students had also moderate perception toward their lecturers’ way in creating a good climate for giving and receiving feedback, with the combined mean of 2.76, (6) the students had moderate perception toward their lecturers’ ways but they had positive perception toward their own ways in raising self-esteem, with the combined mean of 2.55 and 2.90.
