Advances in Voice Behavior Research

2018 
As the research on voice behavior, or “speaking out and challenging the status quo with the intent of improving the situation”, has matured over the past two decades, limitations to our understanding of this phenomenon have become more salient. This symposium is comprised of four presentations that attempt to address several different, but related, limitations. More specifically, the presenters will discuss research designed to: (1) more effectively integrate voice behavior research with other proactive, change- oriented employee behavior in an effort to develop a better understanding of the process of voice behavior, (2) examine the effects that mode and frequency of communication has on voice behavior, and (3) explore and/or challenge perspectives about recipient or observer reactions to exhibited voice behavior.
