On evolution of flow structures induced by nanosecond pulse discharge inside a plasma synthetic jet actuator

2019
Detailed phase-lock schlieren measurement was conducted to study the physical evolution process of the structures inside the plasma synthetic jet actuator driven by a high voltage nanosecond pulse. One strong blast wave and heat source core are generated immediately after the arcing discharge. Within the cavity, as the blast wave is reflected by the cavity walls and interacts with the heat source core, the pressure of the gas inside the cavity is increased rapidly and a series of diffractive wave comes out from the orifice of the cavity, followed by a train of vortex rings and a high speed jet.
