The optical rotation of some carbohydrate derivatives in p-dioxan-water mixtures

Abstract The specific optical rotations of thirteen carbohydrate derivatives in p -dioxan-water mixtures have been measured and found to vary in a complex manner with solvent composition. Elimination of possible refractive-index effects of the solvent and of effects due to solvent-solute interactions, by established methods, did not account for this complex behaviour.
