Numerical solutions of unsteady 2-D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations at low Reynolds numbers with slip boundary conditions

2013
The present investigation solves 2-D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with slip boundary conditions in low Reynolds number case with marker and cell (MAC) method of pressure correction approach. The solution procedure has been adopted using an efficient solver based on staggered grid system. This solver was specifically adapted for solution of velocity profiles in x and y direction and pressure of an unsteady 2-D incompressible viscous flow for a low Reynolds number case. The numerical results for the velocity and pressure have been obtained and given at different times. The numerical solutions of the velocity and pressure obtained in this present study have been ensured to be stable based on the stability requirements obtained for the present solver. Convergence of the numerical solutions of the velocity and pressure in x and y direction has been proved.
