Retinitis de probable etiología herpética

espanolVaron de 23 anos con escotoma temporal en ojo derecho. La funduscopia revelo congestion papilar, hemorragias en astilla, exudados, tortuosidad vascular y pliegues maculares. Tras tratamiento con corticosteroides endovenosos hubo un empeoramiento clinico. La serologia mostro IgM VHS positivo y la PCR de humor acuoso fue negativa para VHS. El paciente fue tratado empiricamente para VHS, con mejoria significativa. EnglishA 23 years-old male presented with right eye temporal visual field defect. Funduscopy revealed swelling of the right optic nerve, prepapillar vitritis, flamed haemorrhages, exudates, tortuous retinal vessels, and folds around the macula. After treatment with intravenous metilprednisolone, there was a clinical worsening. Serology showed positive IgM HSV and HSV PCR on aqueous humor was negative. He was empirically treated for HSV infection, with clinical improvement.
