Predictive Value of Calculated Dioptric Power of Prepupillary Implant Lenses

The calculation of the power of implant lenses has an intuitive importance, because of the large spread in ametropia occuring in a population. Many studies have been published about optical calculations to obtain emme-tropizing lenses (cf. Troutman 1962, Binkhorst 1972, Colenbrander 1973, Binkhorst 1973, Gernet & Ostholt 1973, Oguchi & Van Balen 1974, Thijssen 1973, 1975, 1980, Heyde 1975). But only very few have been devoted to computer calculation of iseikonizing implant lenses (cf. Thijssen 1975, Binkhorst 1976). The introduction of pocket calculators (Binkhorst 1976. Thijssen 1980) decreases the distance of theory to clinical practice considerably.
