Absorption Cross Section Measurement of a Polystyrene Table in a Reverberation Chamber

2021
The loading effect of a polystyrene table used in reverberation chamber (RC) testing is quantified using absorption cross section (ACS). We show that the ACS is more useful than the chamber loading factor. For the same table or device under test in different RCs, the chamber loading factors could be different. However, the ACS is an inherent property of the DUT (device under test) which does not depend on the dimensions and loss of an RC. Measurements are performed to give typical values of the ACS of a polystyrene table.
