PANI-CNT nanocomposites

2019
Abstract Both carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and polyaniline (PANI), because of their unique structures and properties, have been used individually in diverse applications. On the other hand, PANI-CNT nanocomposites, which inherit fascinating properties of both PANI and CNTs, have gained increasing attention for advanced particular uses. Some of these applications, including sensors, energy storage devices, solar cells, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shields, anticorrosive coatings, biomedical uses, heavy metal removal, and catalysis, are summarized in this chapter. In each application, an overview of the technology and related parameters is presented first; then, the usage and benefits of CNTs, PANI, and PANI/CNTs are summarized and discussed. Generally speaking, PANI/CNT nanocomposites have superior properties with respect to pure CNT or PANI, which results in a more successful/specific performance.
