Coherent and incoherent dynamics of charge-transfer excitons

In the present study, we investigate the formation and decay of charge-transfer excitons in semiconductor heterostructures. By utilizing four-wave-mixing and terahertz spectroscopy, we trace the coherent as well as the incoherent dynamics. The results are compared to measurements on regular type-I excitons and supported by a predictive microscopic theory, allowing for the unambiguous identification of a charge-transfer process and the finding of a more fermionic character for the case of spatially indirect excitons [1].
