The study of leisure: an introduction.

1994
It is now recognized that leisure is much more than whatever free time remains after work. Scholarly publications and popular opinion claim that leisure in industrialized countries is becoming an increasingly crucial component in our daily lives,so much so that society is on the verge of becoming a society of leisure. This book defines leisure as an enjoyable experience that people choose to participate in during their discretionary time, within the context and limitations of culture, socio-economics, and gender. It is a systematic, comprehensive overview of leisure studies from developmental, multidimensional, and cross-cultural perspectives, with an emphasis on Canada.
