The invention discloses a method and a system for realizing a multimedia conference and relates to the multimedia conference field. The method comprises steps that: a conference server sends a conference notification message to a conference participant terminal of a designated number according to indication of a conference convener, and the conference notification message contains a conference link including authentication information; after the conference participant terminal receives the conference notification message sent by the conference server, the conference participant terminal responds to a conference participant to click the conference link, the authentication information is extracted, an identification request is initiated automatically to the conference server, and the identification request contains the authentication information; the conference participant terminal simultaneously initiates a calling request to the conference server automatically, and the calling request contains a calling number; the conference server carries out binding authentication according to the identification request and the calling request, after binding authentication, the conference participant terminal joins a conference. According to the method, the conference participant can more flexibly and conveniently join the conference.
