Synthesis and characterization of the complexes of lanthanide chlorides with N,N,N′,N′-tetraphenyl-3,6-dioxaoctanedioic diamide

Abstract The lanthanide chloride complexes with the ligand N , N , N′ , N′ -tetraphenyl-3,6-dioxaoctanedioic diamide (TDD) have been prepared in an ethanol-chloroform solution. These new complexes with general formula [Ln(TDD)Cl 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]Cl(Ln = La, Pr, Nd, Sm-Er) have been characterized by elemental analysis, conductivity measurements, IR spectra, f-f electronic spectra, 1 H NMR spectra and TG-DTA techniques. In all the complexes, the ligand TDD shows quadridentate behaviour.
