NEW "BREAK" IN THE O$sup 16$N$gamma$,n)O$sup 15$ REACTION WITH A NEW SYSTEM OF MEASUREMENT

Using a 31-Mev betatron, cylinders of boric acid (H/sub 2/B/sub 2/O/sub 7/) were bombarded and the 2-min beta /sup +/ activity of the O/sup 15/ was measured with a coincidence and single-channel analyzer system. Using this method, an excitation level was found at 15.76 plus or minus 0.020 Mev for the O/sup 16/ ( gamma ,n)O/sup 15/ reaction. (C.J.G.)
