Cloruro de aluminio hexahidratado en el tratamiento de las pustulosis palmoplantares. Estudio preliminar

2000
Palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP) is a chronic cutaneous disease characterized by sterile pustules located on the palms and soles. The reason why the lesions are located in areas with an important amount of eccrine sweat glands is not already known. This condition is often refractary to treatment, including topical potent or systemic corticosteroids. Objetive: to evaluate the efficacy of aluminium chloride hexahydratate in a 20% aquous solution in 12 patients with PPP. Materials and methods: this is an open study performed in 12 patients with PPP (6 patients were treated with aluminium chloride hexahydratate in a 20% aquous solution and the other 6 were treated with placebo), during a 5-month period. Results: a good response was observed in 100% of the cases treated with aluminium chloride hexahydratate and only a 16% in the group treated with placebo. No adverse effects were observed. Conclusions: the treatment with aluminium chloride hexahydratate in an aquous solution is an effective therapy in patients with PPP.
