Advances in proteomic studies on the plant-pathogen interactions.

2010
Plant-pathogen interactions have been performed extensively over the years from both the plant and pathogen viewpoints. An overall understanding of how plants and pathogens recognize each other, and differentiate to establish either a compatible or an incompatible relationship is crucial in this field of investigation.Defence-related genes and proteins expressed during phytopathogen infections have been successfully identified with proteomics approaches. This method also contributed to the investigation of molecular plant-pathogen interactions. In this paper,we provide an overview of plant-pathogen interactions, and highlight some functional proteins expressed during plant-bacterium,plant-fungus interactions reported in differential proteomic studies, and discuss these findings considering the advantages and limitations of current proteomic tool in plant-pathogen interactions.
