Sand Thickness Prediction From Band-limited Seismic Attributes Using Neural Networks: Oriente Basin, Ecuador
2002
The Uinferior2 sandstone within the Mesozoic Napo Formation in the Oriente Basin of Ecuador produces littleto-no unique seismic signature. However, attributes produced by contrasts in the elastic properties of the Napo Formation, taken as a whole, do correlate well with the characteristics of the Uinferior2 sandstone thickness. In short, the characteristics are somewhat independent of scale. This relationship allows attribute measurements to be taken over a window of seismic sequences that predict sand thickness of individual sands that are well below seismic resolution.
