Stepwise Optical Saturation Microscopy: Obtaining Super-Resolution Images with Conventional Fluorescence Microscopes

We propose stepwise optical saturation (SOS) microscopy, in which two conventional fluorescence images are linearly combined to extend the resolution by 41%. We experimentally perform the SOS microscopy with one-photon (confocal) and multiphoton excitation fluorescence.
