Coatings application quality schemes and training in the UK

Standards in the coatings industry can be improved through ensuring the quality of both product and application procedures. This paper reviews the present situation in the UK regarding formal training of operatives, contractor-company schemes, the Department of Trade and Industry's TrustMark scheme for builders, and the quality assurance of manufacturers' products. A number of opportunities are then identified that will benefit the industry and its client base.
