Ytterbium fiber oscillator with higher-order-mode fiber generating 7-nJ, 60-fs pulses at 1035 nm

We present a mode-locked Yb-fiber oscillator with higher-order-mode fiber operating in the normal-dispersion regime, delivering 7.2 nJ pulses compressible down to 62 fs. Theoretical predictions reveal an operation regime with highest pulse fidelity.
