THE SUPERPAVE SYSTEM: A USER'S EXPERIENCE IN DESIGN, PERFORMANCE PREDICTION AND FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

This paper documents a highway reconstruction project containing three Superpave Level 1 mix designs and includes quality control done with the Superpave gyratory compactor. Superpave Level 2 performance-based tests were done to predict permanent deformation of the design and the mixture as constructed. The paper includes an evaluation of performance-based engineering properties which are obtained from the tests and a discussion of the performance prediction models.
