An activity stain for L-serine dehydratase in polyacrylamide gels.

Abstract An activity stain for the detection of l -serine dehydratase in gels is described. After electrophoresis, the gel is incubated with l -serine, and the pyruvate formed is detected by its reaction with 0.6% 1,2-diamino-4-nitrobenzene in 2 m HCl at 90°C. A red band on a yellow background indicates the position of l -serine dehydratase.
