HUBUNGAN KEMAMPUAN LOGIKA MATEMATIKA DENGAN KEMAMPUAN MENYELESAIKAN SOAL-SOAL GEOMETRI (STUDI DI SMUN 9 MALANG KELAS X SEMESTER II)

Mathematics logic capability is one of powers or performances to gain a success in learning about methods or principles, which explicitly separating either right or wrong reasoning. So it can bear human capability in thinking rationally, critically, straightly, correctly, methodically, and coherently, and also improving human capability in thinking abstractly, accurately, and objectively. It is also improving students’ capability in solving geometrical question based on their logic capability. Thus, students can attain better solving capability of geometrical question. The purpose of this research is to know whether exist a correlation between mathematics logic capability with students’ capability in solving geometric questions in class X of SMAN 09 of Malang. Thus, the formulated hypothesis is: “there is correlation between mathematics logic capability with students’ capability in solving geometric questions in class X of SMAN 09 of Malang”. The used research design is descriptive with quantitative approach. The object of this research is the correlation of mathematics logic capability with students’ capability in solving geometric questions in class X of SMAN 09 of Malang. While, the subjects are class X semester II students of SMAN 09 of Malang academic year of 2006/2007. To know the correlation between mathematics logic capability with students’ capability in solving geometric questions, hence it uses Chi-Square test to analyze data with significance level of 5%. From the obtained research result, it can be known that from all examined students, 63.64% students have moderate mathematics logic capability. While, the students including in high and low category is balance, that is 18.18%. For students’ capability in solving geometry questions, it is known that there are 18.18% students include in “high” category, 66.67% in moderate, and 15.15% in low category. It is because the rise of students’ satisfaction for their present capability that resulted in the lack of students’ effort to improve their capability in solving geometry questions. Based on this research, it can be drawn a conclusion that the positives and significance correlation between mathematics logic capability with student’s capability in solving geometry question on class X semester II students of SMAN 09 of Malang is high. Based on the result, it is expected that this research can be used as a preparation to improve mathematics logic capability to support and to improve students’ capability in solving geometry questions.
