Bilateral Polycystic Kidneys and Focal Renal Cystadenoma in a Pygmy Sperm Whale (Kogia breviceps)
2019
ABSTRACT An adult male pygmy sperm whale (Kogia breviceps) stranded alive at a beach in Florida, US, in 2016. Main postmortem examination findings included bilateral multifocal variably sized renal cysts, focal renal cystadenoma, and mild dilation of the renal pelvises. The role of these renal lesions in the stranding of this whale is unknown.
