The synthesis of trans -carbovir via the ramberg-bäcklund reaction

Abstract A novel Ramberg-Backlund approach to the synthesis of 1-amino-4-substituted cyclopentenes is described and applied to prepare the trars -isomer of the carbocyclic nucleoside carbovir.
