Bonding state of fluorine in lead-tin oxyfluorophosphate glasses☆

1990
Abstract X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS) and infrared spectra were measured for lead-tin oxyfluorophosphate glasses and the bonding state of fluorine atoms was investigated. F 1s XPS had a doublet peak: one of the component peaks at 687.4 eV in binding energy was attributed to the fluorine in PF bonds, and the other at 684.9 eV to the fluorine in ionic MF bonds (M:Pb(II) and Sn(II)). The fraction of the latter increases with increase in the fluorine content.
