ABSTRACT Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a disease of the connective tissue of autoimmune origin, characterized by inflammation in various organs and systems that evolve and interleaved periods of activity and remission. This case report concerns a patient who had systemic lupus erythematosus, lupus nephritis and dialysis was admitted to the health service with extensive right pleural effusion and pericardial effusion. Even in the presence of collagen, a important cause of serositis, was prioritized to the exclusion of other diagnoses to evaluate the indication of the use of immunosuppressants.
