The design and implementation of LCX fault detection system based on linear sweep frequency

A new implementation of LCX fault detection system based on the linear sweep frequency is presented in this paper. Firstly, the necessity and feasibility of fault detection for the LCX are illustrated, and detection system is elaborated form host software, FPGA design and synthesizer and chips control three primary aspects. Based on the demand and theoretical analysis, the LCX fault detection system is implemented by using Win CE 6.0 on hardware platform that designed by us. Finally, both system noise floor and high-speed railway tests are employed to confirm our implementation. A series of experiments have demonstrated that LCX fault detection system can significantly improve the dynamic range of measurement to increase measuring distance, thereby effectively reducing equipment volume and cutting user cost.
