Framgångsfaktorer för implementering av Business Intelligence

2015
In the changing world we live in, we need to make timely decisions. This is also true for companies and organizations that quickly need to make decisions that ultimately may affect people's lives. A mean to make these decisions is called Business Intelligence (BI) which, with the help of supportive data and reports, can help to justify these decisions. There are a number of factors that determine how successful an implementation of a Business Intelligence System (BIS) might be, these are called critical success factors. This paper intends to help Swedish companies facing a future implementation of a BIS by ranking the critical success linked to implementation. By studying relevant literature and conducting interviews, a number of success factors have been selected by how frequently they appear in literature and how relevant the interviewees deemed them. These critical success factors have then been sent out in a questionnaire to BI-consultants in order to determine how important they are. The results from the survey were then used to rank the critical success factors using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Since a BIS implementation is a costly undertaking, it might be interesting for companies to know which critical success factors that should be prioritized. This work culminates in an indication of where the companies should put their focus when undertaking a BI implementation.
