Diálisis peritoneal y trasplante renal

Materials and methods. We present our five years (1999-2003) experience on 171 consecutive renal cadaver donor transplant, after the introduction of a new immunosuppressive regime and the remodeling of medical and paramedic transplant procedure with special focus on patients under previous peritoneal dialysis treatment. Results and conclusions. These patients have been transplanted at a higher ratio (27%) than those under haemodialysis treatment (7,3%). Peritoneal related infections such as peritonitis, and exit side infections had been less relevant during the post-transplant period than during peritoneal dialysis. Acute rejection episodes and survivals of both patient and graft been similar in both haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
