Background: Although there has been national progress in reducing sudden unexplained infant deaths (SUID) since the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) “Back-to-Sleep” campaign in 1994, the rates of accidental suffocation and strangulation in bed (ASSB) continue to rise.
