Spectroscopic evidence for Si-H formation during microwave plasma modification of poly(dimethylsiloxane) elastomer surfaces

1991
ATR FTi.r. spectra provide evidence for the Si-H formation during microwave gas/plasma surface modification of poly(dimethylsiloxane) elastomers. Although at this point the mechanistic aspects leading to the Si-H formation are not fully understood, it appears that the chemically inert gases such as Ar or N 2 in microwave generated plasma environments provide suitable conditions for the Si-H formation on PDMS surfaces
