Tratamiento de la preeclampsia grave con urapidil

2001
Summary A retrospective study of nine patients with severe pre-eclamptic hypertension treated with urapidil chlorhydrate. We analysed a series of variables such as age, gestational age, the dose and number of times given, time needed to control arterial blood pressure, materno-fetal side effects, and the Apgar score at birth. The results show the efficiency of this drug in the management of severe pregnancy induced hypertension, normal systolic and diastolic levels being achieved in a relatively short time (11.6-7.50 minutes), and with low dose (20.3-11.13) in seven cases; in only one case was more time and a higher dose necessary (40 minutes and 70 mg). In one 28 week pregnant woman blood pressure could not be controlled, and the pregnancy ended with an emergency ca-esarean section. Maternal, foetal, and neonatal side effects were minimal, unlike the usual antihypertensi-ve agents (hydralazine, labetolol, or nifedipine)
