Effect of Admixtures on the Rheological Behavior of Cement Asphalt Paste

2012
The effect of mass ratios of super plasticizer to cement (SP/C), viscosity enhancing admixture to cement (VEA/C) and polypropylene fiber to cement (PF/C) on the rheological behavior which was measured by rheometer of the cement asphalt paste (CA paste) was investigated. The results show that the CA pastes can be described by Bingham model. With the SP/C, VEA/C and PF/C respectively increasing from 0.1 wt% to 2.0 wt%, 0 wt% to 0.4wt% and 0 wt% to 1.0 wt%, the shear stress of CA paste increases as the shear rate increases. Both yield stress and plastic viscosity of the CA pastes decrease with the increase of SP/C, but ascend with the increase of VEA/C and PF/C.
