AI-IOT BASED WATER CONSERVATION AND BUDGETING SOLUTION

The existence of life as we know it is because of our planet’s indigenous resource, water. Every living thing, need water to survive. Although 75% of our planet is covered with water, only 1% is available for use. This life-sustaining force needs to be used judiciously in order to make it available for future generations. The easy availability of water has made human beings careless and irresponsible. It is the fundamental duty of every individual to conserve water. According to a study, around 4.27 billion liters of water across the globe are wasted via leaking pipes. For a faucet that drips only once every second, around 2700 gallons of water are wasted annually. Water usage must be optimized and consciously used to satisfy the needs of the growing population and meet their demands. In this regard, we are facing the following challenges such as No ability to monitor the water usage in a house. Wastage of water due to leaky faucets and pipes. Forgetting to switch off water taps. Unknowingly wasting water(using more than necessary). No proper information regarding the water usage per day or per month. Consciousness stems from knowing quantitatively the amount of water that we are consuming. Scheduling water usage also helps us keep track of the utilisation. Two-way communication should exist between consumers and billing companies, so that they are informed about the water budget and thus ensure fair prices. The existing systems available in the market, either monitor the flow or the price, but not both. In order to solve the aforementioned problems, we have come up with the idea of Aquart - smart tap indicator. We are aimed towards solving the problem by modelling, designing and fabricating a smart tap system which will reduce the wastage of water at a cheap and affordable price. Our objective is to provide real time data/information of the current water usage. This can be brought about by developing an appropriate mechanical assembly to monitor and control the usage of water with the help of a mobile application, designing a sensor interface that provides the data regarding the flow of water, total water consumption and current output in mL/s, detecting if the threshold limit of water consumption is reached and then to turn off valve and also generate a complete detail analysis of water consumption per day/week/month where we can know the usage and wastage of water. The mobile application has various other features through which we can know the amount of water currently being utilized and also the total amount of water used per day. The Aquart module can also be controlled via the app where we can turn the water flow on or off. The app also provides us a unique feature where we can set the threshold limit for the amount of water that can be used per day. The daily consumption limit/threshold value of water can be set by the user and they will be notified about the amount of water utilized.  The main purpose of sending data to the cloud is water management and budgeting through the application of various Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms. The data collected from various nearby Aquart units and compared and an algorithm know as anomaly detection is used to find if there are any leakages or blockages in the water pipes and then notifies the concerned people to get it fixed and hence increase the efficiency of the whole system. With the help of this data, we can also perform various analysis on them and get many insights. These reports help both the consumer and the government organizations to fine tune the water supply system and decrease the total loss. Since the total amount of water used is know per billing cycle we can leverage the advantages of the Aquart unit and its mobile application to send and collect bills automatically from the user without the need of manual labour to go to each house, take the reading, calculate the exact billing amount and then bill the user. This editorial outlines the working of AI-IOT based water conservation and budgeting solution. The product can help to conserve more water and minimize water wastage. It sends alert notification and usage data on real-time basis. Detects leakages and blockages with an easy to use mobile application AQUART helps in conservation of water which is the need of the hour. People will become more conscious about their water consumption. With the emerging technology such as IOT and AI, we will definitely bring the change of sustainable development. We hereby produce this solution which is affordable and will help in water saving.
