Lugares de memória difícil em São Paulo: reconhecimento de valor nas políticas de preservação do patrimônio cultural

Difficult memories, related to shocking situations - conflicts, natural or unnatural catastrophes - that generate negative and indelible feelings in a particular social group, have been increasingly subject to discussions and studies. In Brazil, the difficult or traumatic memories, as they have been called, began to gain visibility in the 1980s, post-military dictatorship, being an object of interest in several areas of knowledge. Recently, there is a tendency to expand studies on this subject in the field of cultural heritage conservation, but the approach is still little explored. This article deals with the recognition of difficult memory places related to the military period by the preservation agencies in the city of Sao Paulo, seeking to identify the values attributed to them.
