Synthesis and Photophysical Properties of 9,10-Bis(3-aryl-2-naphthyl)anthracenes

Title compounds (III) are prepared by benzannulation reaction of 9,10-bis(arylethynyl)anthracene derivatives (I) and 2-(phenylethynyl)benzaldehyde (II) in the presence of Cu or Re catalyst, resp., and trichloroacetic acid.
