Numerical Simulation of Serial Sudden Expansions Pipe Flow

In the case of two-step serial sudden expansions pipe flow, the characteristic of turbulent pipe flow was studied firstly, the standard k-e mathematical model and the calculation program were established and verified properly by physical model test data. Based on the computational results of mathematical model, the head loss of serial sudden expansions pipe flow was analyzed and generalized.Results showed that the coefficient of the relative head loss is the least when the aspect ratio of middle section lies in between 3 and 4, which can supply reference to the design of serial sudden expansions pipeline.
