Damper Detection in Helicopter Inspection of Power Transmission Line

2014
Helicopter power-line inspection is secure in high and cold environment, while inspection accuracy and speed need to improve. Related image processing technologies of damper inspection in transmission lines are analyzed. First, inspection system composition is presented, and threshold method is adopted for segmentation of foreground and background, that is the base for damper inspection. Second, for noisy blurred image, modified balloon force Snake method is presented for edge detection. Hessian matrix is adopted to determine initial boundary condition, which can improve contour curvature control ability of traditional balloon force Snake model. Finally, experimental comparison between detected edge and true edge show, along with increasing of noise level, RMS of modified balloon force Snake method 4.43 is much better than that of traditional balloon force Snake method 0.37. This method can meet the actual requirement preliminarily.
