Decomposition of t-butyl peroxide, and reactions of the resulting radicals in the synthesis of polydiphenylmethylene

1. The liquid and gaseous products of the polyrecombination of diphenylmethane in presence of t-butyl peroxide were investigated by the methods of gas-liquid and gas adsorption chromatography. 2. On the basis of the data obtained the material balance of the reaction products was drawn up, and from this it follows that most of the excess consumption of the peroxide is attributable to the alkylation of the growing polymer chain.
