Effect of moisture on the properties of viscose textile fibre in spinning by the continuous method and twisting it on a ring-traveler pair

1982
In machines for continuous spinning, finishing, drying, and twisting (PNSh machine), viscose textile fibre is subjected to twisting without preliminary conditioning.* Thereupon the fibres are subjected in the cylinder (at a velocity of 8000 rpm, a cylinder diameter of 0.145 m, a fibre section length in the cylinder of 0.54 m, and a section weight of 7.2 x 10 -3 g) to a rather strong action of loads during the twisting process in the lengthwise and crosswise directions, equal to 36.6 cN for a fibre of 13.3 tex, or 2.75 cN/tex, that is (2.75/16) × i00 or 18% of the load of the fibre at break in the conditioned state.
