Double electron capture in a Landau—Zener model: a reaction window

Abstract A theoretical interpretation of double charge transfer from atoms to singly and multiply charged projectile ions is developed in terms of the Landau—Zener model and an independent electron capture approximation. The cross-sections for charge inversion and selective electron capture are determined and they are compared with previous experimental data for several systems.
