Salud mental en prisión. Las paradojas socioeducativas

The purpose of the work is to analyze metal health in the prison population, especially women, in relation to the identification of their own health self-perceptions about mental health, the situations surrounding the parallel use of drugs, the treatment received and the processes of socio-educational intervention. The data selected corresponds to a national research project (Ref. EDU2009-13408), carried out in 42 Spanish prisons, which are in compliance with the sentence, in a sample of 538 women surveyed. The results highlight the great dimension of the problem in prisons, above the national population, the higher prevalence of social stigma in women, the relationship with drug use, as well as the scarce and/or inadequate attention in the programs of specific and social intervention in the women studied.
