A new architecture for location-based services core network to preserve user privacy

2017
A location-based service (LBS) is a software level service that are offered through mobile device based on users' location, that means the user location is known to the service and data provider who may be an external third-party location service (LCS) client. To achieve a good quality of service and good system performance, the system needs to preserve the user's privacy with a quick response and accurate results. Recently, there have been many researches about how to protect and preserve user's privacy with quick response. Those researches can be summarised into two main methods: spatial and temporal cloaking, and transformation of the user's location. In this paper, a new architecture is proposed by attaching a database to the existing gateway mobile location centre (GMLC) in the mobile core network to protect the user privacy and reduce the response time. The results show that the new architecture protects user privacy well and reduces the response time.
